Police shootings are something that can be reduced by firstly, public education using the radio and
television and even including the social media. There can be advertisements done about complying with
police instructions when in contact with the police. There should be campaigns about respecting the law
enforcement officers all the time and in every place, and this done by all politicians and with every
opportunity they get.
Also see that the subway shooter in New York was not rough- handled by law enforcement. He was compliant with their instructions. He is black and was the shooter but the police did not kill him or shoot at him. So, we see that the main issue is is respecting law enforcement officers.
What did the protesters expect the police officer to do? What would they have done if they were in his place?
An officer is supposed to defend himself and avoid the taking away of his weapon. Why fight with a police
officer? Just comply with law enforcement. They are humans with various sensibilities. They too can be hurt by
insults and abuse. Young individuals of all races should be taught to be respectful to law enforcement even if
they have been stopped or apprehended for no apparent reason. This will stop most if not all of these silly
shootings.
